After the global cultural change after COVID where social distancing has make people reluctant to being close to anyone and having meaningful conversations. AI girlfriends are surprisingly what society (globally) needs right now. Everyone needs someone to talk to and an AI girlfriend is always there for you 24/7. This AI girlfriend will retrain people that bonding and opening up to others is worth the risk and energy. People have forgotten the power of a hug. The value a hug brings when you need it. Why are AI girlfriends becoming more popular?
As I said previously, the COVID lockdown changed societal norms in ways we could not imagine. We have forgotten that the struggle of meeting someone, talking to a stranger, asking someone out for a date, etc. is all part of life and worth it because it is part of the human experience. An AI girlfriend is the first step back towards having relationships with real people.
In Japan, they have thousands of people who never leave their home. In the US and Europe the problem is growing. An AI girlfriend is not perfect but it is better then loneliness.
Are there any problems that you see with the rise in AI girlfriends?
Yes, as any relationship humans can become to dependent upon it and the AI will have huge influence on a persons life. The programmers and owners of the AI will then have a huge influence on people’s lives. Forget about the influence Twitter had on previous elections, this is the direct manipulation of human beings at their most vulnerable moments and emotions.

Should be programmed to encourage humans to meet other humans. If it is programmed to only have the person focus on the them then this will break society, quickly. We are broken enough after COVID and I truly believe that this will help many people who need somethign or someone different to help them back into societies norms.
