I have been using a VPN on my iPhone ever since I received my iPhone, actually ever since I had a PC. A VPN is a must for anyone on the internet, especially VPN providers that offer the “WireGuard” protocol. It is the most secure and newest VPN protocol that also uses the least number of resources on your mobile phone so it runs faster and uses less battery.
My wife and I travelled to the country of Georgia last year, and while at the airport my wife connected to the airports free Wi-Fi without a VPN and connected with a VPN. By the time we arrived at our final destination, she realized her Facebook account and other accounts were all hacked. I was untouched because I used a VPN. Yes, she immediately demanded that I help her to install a VPN. She has been happy and her phone has been 100% secure when connecting to public Wi-Fi networks.

– No, it comes with a VPN configuration form that you write in the information from your VPN provider to manually integrate any VPN to the iPhone. Many VPN providers offer a VPN mobile app to simplify VPN installation for the non-technical people.
What features should someone consider when choosing a VPN app for an iPhone?
– WireGuard protocol (as mentioned above), a large selection of countries and cities to connect to around the world. For example, I am watching the Olympics on my iPhone from a French streaming service that only provides service in France. Using my VPN and connecting to the VPN server in France, I am able to watch the Olympics for free from France. The more global this world becomes, the more we all need to have the capability to connect to different VPNs in different countries.
Is it worth paying for a VPN, or would a free version suffice?
– Yes, it is worth paying for a free service but make sure that the VPN provider does not record any log files of your usage to 100% protect your privacy. I use a VPN provider that only costs me USD $3 per month and I am protected and can use my VPN on 5 different devices, simultaneously. Awesome and low priced and worth it!
How do I know if my iPhone is connected to a VPN?
– A “VPN” icon flashes or stays at the top of the upper right corner of the iPhone. In newer models iPhones it always appears. I have an iPhone 11 and it flashes for a moment after connecting then disappears. You can also launch the VPN mobile app on the iPhone and it will be “green” when you are connected to the VPN service or “yellow” when you are not.
