AI is popular amongst the people who know about it or have heard about it. Most peoples first interaction with AI is using Microsoft CoPilot since Microsoft pushes CoPilot into your face where ever you go in Office, Windows and any Microsoft product. Other people have heard of ChatGPT and use it because it can do there homework for them or is can summarize a long report or video in seconds saving them time. This is fantastic but an education on to properly use these tools so that you don’t unknowingly give up your privacy, your hard work, and your company secrets is crucial.
Look at what happened and the end of a Zoom meeting where the AI, Otter, did not stop recording after the meeting was over and sent the private after-meeting conversation to all meeting attendees. This is extremely bad and an oversight by the investor company. These type of things will happen, over and over again until we become familiar with the new way of working. Having a AI that can always be watching to help you but also to “over help” you as in the case of the company from the Washington Post article.
When it comes to the most popular AI apps (ChatGPT and Claude) they have setting in your profile under “privacy” that you should go into and shut off. Specifically, by default they both have enabled the ability to use everything you enter into them to train their AI. Everything. Your prompt, your attachments, your pictures, everything. Go into your privacy section on your account and disable (slide the slide bar to the left) the ability to use your data to train their AI. If you allow it to do so, your data can show up years from now in someone school book report or college thesis and that poor kid has no idea that they now are a part of corporate espionage. It’s that bad.
When it comes to AI Apps, you should always go into your Profile -Privacy settings and take a look around. Disable any functionality that ask you to share. Their is a war going on for data and the most valuable data is your private data and your prompts. By having your private data the AI company’s AI is uniquely different and potentially smarter than the competition’s AI all thanks to you and your secrets. They must ask you for permission. Sign up for the service and immediately take away the permission to share your data.
What is needed in the market is a Bank for Private data that also has a Data Market where you can sell, trade, rent, place options, etc. on your private data. You are worth a lot of money. Some people are worth more because they represent a different demographic that may be more valuable to data buyers then more common demographics. We are approaching a time where Banks that hold our money are not as valuable as banks that hold our data. AI privacy is a huge business that will never end. Innovative new ideas in AI privacy are endless because this market is untapped and the market is everyone on the planet (and off planet).
My prediction is that blockchain will be a key piece of this technology that will secure your data. Crypto will be the currency that your data will be bought and sold with allow for instant and low cost purchasing. This is going to happen and the system needed to operate this marketplace will be in place by 2027. If I was a money bank today, I would be working on a strategy to win over the trust of people’s data by leveraging the trust they have in having their money. This window for old school banks are closing because the Fintech industry is breaking the mental bond of traditional banks and replacing it with, “you must earn a customers trust.” I think its great and a better model for the future.
